What Is Your Background? What Has Been Your Experience Working In California?

I started my career working at a tertiary hospital. I started at UCSF hospital where I was providing diagnostic and hearing rehabilitative services to both children and adults. I worked with vestibular patients as well. I also really had the unique opportunity, because I was able to mentor with one of the leading Ph.D. audiologists in the tinnitus field, Dr. Robert Sweetow. So, I was able to learn quite a bit about tinnitus and how to provide tinnitus patient care, through my experiences at UCSF, so I enjoyed that. I’ve sort of worked in all different fields of audiology, which has been nice because it’s given me a well-rounded approach to have all the different experiences. I have worked in inoperative monitoring. I did spend some time working in educational audiology, working within the school systems with children with hearing loss, providing support to them, their families, the school as well.

The majority of my career was spent in a top private practice in the Bay Area. There I was providing hearing aid support, diagnostic support, as well as tinnitus support to patients. I’ve also, throughout my career, had the opportunity to provide industry consulting services to a variety of different manufacturers. I’ve participated in pre-product releases, field trials, preparing devices for FDA approval. I’ve worked with some of the top manufacturer companies in the world. I’ve participated in advisory boards.

What Services Do You Provide At Treble Health?

I am board-certified in tinnitus patient care, so I am providing tinnitus counseling, as well as hearing aid counseling to patients.

What Is It About Your Work As An Audiologist You Enjoy Most?

You know, there’s nothing quite that describes that feeling of when somebody comes to you in such dire straits, because they want to communicate with their family, they want to be able to hear when they’re at gatherings. And to be able to provide them something, a tool, that benefits them and allows them to be to better navigate the world and to communicate and to be able to hear, it’s a really rewarding feeling. And I have really enjoyed that.

Is There Anything Else You’d Like Your Patients To Know?

I think what I’d like to say is that tinnitus, hearing loss, it’s very tricky and it’s very tricky to navigate. And I just want everybody out there to know that you’re not alone and that there are things that can be done. Oftentimes, you might be in a particular setting or see a particular provider and they just say, “No, you know, there’s nothing you can do.” And I just want everybody to know that, no, actually there’s a lot we can do. There’s a lot of support that we can provide. We have a lot of tools and we can help. And I think that’s a message that I really want to get through to the tinnitus patients, as well as those with hearing loss. Sometimes all the information out there, it’s really difficult to sort through and navigate, and it’s confusing, but with Treble Health we’re able to provide resources and tools and plans and able to get a therapeutic approach that’ll work for you. And more often than not, it is going to be helpful and we can get you through some of these tough stages that you’re going through. So I think that that’s important to emphasize. That we’re here to support you, and the techniques that we use and the technology that we have access to, do benefit the patients.
